This section of the web site describes methods and considerations when interplaying several different images. I call this a multiple interplay.

General Guidelines

1) The most important step is determining how you emphasize each image in the merged image. It helps to put on the upper layers images that you would like to be fainter. The image that you would like most emphasized should be on the bottom layer or second to the bottom layer.

2) You may need to try processing several variations of the merged image so it is important to always keep copies of the original images. I also keep a copy of the merged image in case I want to try processing it several ways.

3) I usually use Split Channel Mode because processing a merged image like this in single channel mode tends to make the image dull- lots of browns and blues. You can pop the colors using Split Channel Mode.

4) This is one of the most challenging types of interplays. Many times you will create several Lucis-processed variations and then use opacity and layers in Photoshop to combine some of them. In the first example, Cartwheels, I created two Lucis images and merged them 50%-50%.

5) Always Lucis-process the image with the Processing Scan Lines set to 50 to reduce the likelihood that radial line artifacts will occur, unless creating these radial lines is the effect you want to produce. Unless otherwise stated the number of Processing Scan Lines was set to 50 for all image examples.

An example from my personal InterplayArt web site is Touch, which is the interplay of two images and their reflections.
