Creating the image Mosaic

This is an interplay of three different images. The original images are shown below. Click on any image in this tutorial to view and download a high resolution copy of the image.

Creating the merged image: First I created a layered image in Photoshop with a copy of each of the original images on one layer. Then I duplicated these layers so I had six layers, two layers with a copy of each original image. (It helps to keep copies of the original images in case you need them.) Then I grouped three of the layers so the tiled floor image was on the top layer, the orange lilies was on the next layer down, and the cracked glass image was on the bottom layer. I made only these three layers visible so I could merge them later. I knew that the tiled image was very strong so it could be faint in the merged image. So I made the opacity of the layer with the image of the tiled floor equal to 15% opacity. Then I made the layer with the image of the orange lilies equal to 60% opacity. The layer with the image of the cracked glass was left at 100% opacity. The merged image is shown below.

Image 4: The merged image. This image is the result of merging a layer with the tiled floor image at 15% opacity, a layer with the image of the orange lilies at 60% opacity, and a layer with the image of the cracked glass at 100% opacity.
Then I duplicated this merged image in case I needed to start over. I selected the layer with the duplicate of the merged image and opened Lucis. I checked the Split Channels check box and unchecked the view composite image check box. I selected the Red channel. With a little experimentation I liked the image with the Smooth Detail slider set to 1 and the Enhance Detail slider set to 95. I also moved the Assign Original Image Color slider to 0% Processed, 100% Original because I preferred the image with the color shifts removed. The processed result is below.
