In the fall of 2003 I discovered that if you mix two images together and then processed this mixed image with Lucis®, the result was a unique interplay between the two images. Because of the way Lucis processes images, the two images affect each other. They interact. And something reflecting the energy and synergy of both images emerges.

Since then I have experimented with many variations of this, including mixing color and grayscale images, multiple images, mixing an image with reflections of itself, and pre-processing one or more of the images before mixing them and processing them again.

This web site has image examples, instructions and general considerations about how to create Lucis InterplayArt. But these instructions alone are not enough. You have to play with interplaying various images and subjects and gain some intuition about the possibilities. I have had people call me up and say that they tried to interplay two images and all they got was mud. Well, that will happen. But my hope is that this web site will get you started so you can experience the creative possibilities of Lucis InterplayArt.

Please note that these image examples are based on my images so you can download them and try creating the examples for yourself. I am not the best photographer (yet). When I create Lucis InterplayArt I typically use stock photographs or one of my images plus a stock photo. So please do not critique these examples too harshly. They are just here to provide concrete instructions and ideas.
